RIETA AMELIA is a former personnel of 80’s rock group DRAKHMA, whose try her luck with the release of a first solo album titled AKU. Full support came from Dodo ZAKARIA, her DRAKHMA fellow personnel. They worked together to produce a pop rock album. This album is quite acceptable, and the song AKU became radio hits, but unfortunately could not lift the name of Rita as a formidable soloist. Her name then disappeared from the Indonesian music industry, and more known as a producer in TV drama industry.

Atiek CB is a hitsmaker, an average of all single or album that was released reach a good selling. In her album DIA, she worked on with many reliable arranger such as YOUNGKY SOEWARNO, ERWIN GUTAWA, INDRA LESMANA and also KLa PROJECT. The song DIA that become the first single of this album might want to repeat the success of her previous hits TERSERAH BOY (taken from the CATATAN SI BOY 3 soundtrack), because they still use the same vocal techniques (low and high pitch combined). In addition, the creator and arranger is also still the same. And in fact, DIA wasn’t strong enough to be a big hits. Fortunately the second single CEMBURU was more strong, and become the biggest hits of this album. Many strong numbers in the album as INILAH SAYA, a song that fresh and 'very Atiek CB', or KAU TELAH PERGI that later had re-released by RUTH SAHANAYA in her album UTHE, by changing the title to be JANGAN SEMUDAH INI. Atiek also re-released a RAMONA PURBA’s song GELITIK CINTA. On this album Atiek also wrote a song titled KECEWA, written with ex-boyfriend MOESYA YUNUS. Overall, this is one of the best of ATIEK CB albums.

MEISKE MARIA SUZANNA as known as KIKI MARIA has a unique voice. Her first album LAGU UNTUK MAMA managed well received, and then she released her second album with the title SELINTAS SUNYI. The songs and music material in this album was not much changed from the first album. BILLY J. BUDIARJO still believed to be the music director and this album seems to really want to exploit the distinctive vocals of Kiki's gentle falsetto technique. This album achieved good selling in the market, with hits SEMOGA and, of course, SELINTAS SUNYI. Kiki also began to totally engage in this album by writing a song titled NIKMATI SELAGI DINI.

On the first time heard the song SEMUA DARI CINTA playing on the radio, many people wonder who sang it. Indeed, the singer's voice was powerful, so unpredictable. NICKY NASTITIE KARYA DEWI a.k.a NICKY ASTRIA, the owner of the voice, emerged as the different Lady Rocker from what already exists. In contrast to the other lady rocker’s dressed style : disheveled hair, dark glasses or studded leather jackets and more accessories, Nicky appeared very homely. See the outfit on the cover of this album, very casual and feminine. The big successful album of TITO SOEMARSONO’s “KAMU” had bring him to the new role as a solo singer, after previously he had known as a bassist and composer. His second album PESTA INDAH was released as a proof of his existence. The content of this album is still the same color with the album KAMU, maybe he wanted to get the same success. BAGOES AA was still helped on as a music director, while Tito composed all of the songs. PESTA INDAH that had chosen as the first single of this album was not strong enough to beat the market, fortunately the second single BERDUA had became radio hits. This album can not follow the successful of first album. Indeed, the second album syndrome frequently 'haunted' the successful of first album.

Everyone in Indonesia maybe know how the quality of HARVEY MALAIHOLLO : a singer with good vocal character, he also the winner of the festivals even on the international stage. But maybe not everyone knows that Harvey had been released a pop Minang (west sumatera’s traditional music) album, particularly Harvey's background comes from eastern Indonesia. Even Harvey is truly a singer who can melt and sang minang’s songs well, as it proof in the album TARAGAK. Harvey was sang 6 of 10 songs creation of BUDIMAN SYAHIDA, Harvey 'treat' the songs in a professional way, complete with a minang traditional style that may not imagined before sung by Harvey. Think they both chime sounds, certainly unique because their characters are equally strong. Unfortunately, this album is not a duet album. They both just sang solo and be compiled in the album with the tittle INDONESIAN SWEET ROCK 85. This album was not reached success.

Before releasing this RASA CINTAKU album, MAYANGSARI was known as one of the major singers in ‘malaysian’ slow rock genre, partly because the success of her duet with DEDDY Dores. But through this album, Mayang seem to want to change the way her sing to more pop, in other words such as go to 'first class' singer. So musicians such as DEWA BUJANA with his group GIGI, RYAN KYOTO, DONNY SUHENDRA, BUDI BIDHUN even INDRA LESMANA had worked on together in this album. The result is different from what she has been doing in her previous albums. Not in terms of songs and music that changed, Mayang’s appearance also changed. If previously identified with long black hair and look girly, then in this album Mayang appear with short hair, plus the writing on the cover only the name MAYANG without SARI. In Indonesian dangdut music genre, HERLINA EFFENDI's name is including the top. Her career stretched from the mid 70s to mid 80s. In addition to releasing several successful duet album with BENYAMIN S, Herlina also tough as a solo singer. MAAFKAN AKU TAK BERDAYA is one of her main achievement in her music career. This album was booming when released, and then released again by many other singers with different versions. Song created by ARIE WIBOWO (as Masary as written on the cover of the cassette) has a simple melodic structure, with simple lyrics and easy to digest, so it is easy also to be preferred. Music arrangement by ORKES MELAYU INDONESIA SANTOSA was also simple and easy listening. In a way, this is one of the best dangdut songs in the era of the 80s.

Especially for this fourth solo album, Fika presented a special song called HANYA UNTUKMU. This song had sent to SEOUL SONG FESTIVAL 1978 and won the GAYAGEUM AWARD. The song is easy listening, different with the mainstream festival’s songs which usually requires the singers with all singing abilities. HANYA UNTUKMU is Just a simple song, do not require high vocal abilities, and Fika managed to bring this song to the maximum. The song had successfully in the market, and it's also one of the Fika’s biggest hits throughout her career.

ISTILAH CINTA was the album that catapulted her name. Recording traditional songs are not new. But if its songs had re-arranged and given a touch of R & B, Hip Hop complete with rap, MELLYANA MANUHUTU a.k.a. MELLY MANUHUTU was the pioneer in Indonesia. MAKOTO KUBOTA is a famous musician and producer from Japan who are interested to making the Indonesian traditional songs albums with a touch of western music to release in Japan. With the help of talented musicians from the GUEST MUSIC community, the album was made with the tittle YAMKO RAMBE YAMKO. Through a series of processes that eventually elected Melly, a young model and singer that was not yet known. Melly who since her childhood singing in Ancol at that time was being prepared to be a lady rocker, but a challenge to record this album had change her music genre to this day. Recording process carried out in Jakarta, Singapore and Yamato (Japan), and managed to change the songs are already very familiar like YAMKO RAMBE YAMKO, CINGCANGKELING, CUBLAK CUBLAK SUWENG, PARIS BARANTAI, and SURILANG to become a new version : sounds very modern and fresh, with additional English lyrics and melody that beautify the songs, and incredible arrangements for the period. When released in Japan, this album was successful and Melly became famous ther. Melly also became a model in Japan. Success in Japan, the album was finally released also in Indonesia and comparatively successful. Because of the success of this album, there was a trend of the Indonesian music industry at the time : traditional songs in the modern version, or traditional songs that had re-mixed with disco music.

They are KATON KLa, DIDI BOFA & IDA PRA PUTRI, VINNIE (Alvionita), ARIE YOVITA, JIMMA ARISDA, DIAN AGP, INDRA, FRANSISCA, SUSI ARLYN and IRA. All of them had the same chance for making a solo album that chosen by music listener, and in the back cover of the album was inserted also a coupon giveaway to choose a proper singer to made solo album. There are 10 songs that all easy listening. almost all of them so hits, but the biggest hits of course CINTA PUTIH of KATON. Which also became hits are JUMPA (this song just really similar with Peter Cetera song), SELAMAT TINGGAL, BUKAN UNTUKKU and RINDUKU. This is like a Proof that the vocalists on this album do have a great chance to become a singer recording. The second album from jazz fusion group Krakatau was eagerly awaited, because of their first album had pretty successful on the market. Maybe because they were able to mix music that 'heavy' but can be heard by various type of listener. The group members were still like the first album : INDRA LESMANA, DWIKI DHARMAWAN, PRA B. DHARMA, GILANG RAMADHAN, DONNY SUHENDRA and TRIE UTAMI, and assisted also by the former drummer of Krakatau BUDHY HARYONO. The second album titled SECOND ALBUM kicked directly with the first single LA SAMBA PRIMADONA, a song that combines the samba fusion with a unique and fun sound. This album also had four hits singles such as CITA PASTI, MEGA PAGI, IRONIS, and SAYAP SAYAP BEKU. Their melody songs were classified as unusual but still acceptable market.

After considerable success with the first album, ITANG YUNASZ released his second album. If the first album was handled by Eros Djarot, on the second album Itang was helped by BAGOES AA as music director, and supported by many top composers. Itang in this album seem to want to show the daily activity as a designer as the theme songs. So the song called KLAK KLIK KLUK (CINTA PERTAMA) was chosen as the mainstay song, because this song is talking about the models that walking on the catwalk. There was also an instrumental song titled MODE, that is appropriate for the catwalk accompanist road. Although not booming, the album was quite acceptable in the market.
